Our Solution
Hayter Engineering assisted Red River County in obtaining grant funds through the Texas Department of Transportation - Transportation Alternatives Program.
This extension of the NE Texas Trail connects to the Prairiland Trail extending from County Road 2113 through Detroit, Texas, to the east side of Bagwell, Texas, a distance of approximately 9 miles. The trail uses the abandoned Northeast Texas railroad corridor which is adjacent to US 82 and FM 2573 in Red River County.
This extension includes an at-grade crossing of US 82 with an asphalt trail along state right-of-way connecting to the railroad corridor.
Red River County Shared Use Trail is part of a Trail Master Plan that extends west to the Trail de Paris in Paris, Texas, and will in the future extend west to Farmersville, Texas which is approximately 75 miles from the City of Paris. The future NE Texas Trail east of Bagwell will extend to New Boston, Texas.
