New sidewalks allow citizens safe path from their homes to businesses rather than in vehicles through this TxDOT Transportation Alternatives funded project.

Our Solution

This TxDOT Transportation Alternatives Project included the construction of approximately 4,800 LF of new 4’ wide sidewalks along Live Oak Street and Maple Street. The project included new handicap ramps, steps, and new curb & gutter.

The first portion of the project installed approximately 2,700 LF of 4’ wide sidewalk within TxDOT’s ROW along the south side of Live Oak Street. The project started at West Neal Street and continued to Pecan Street. This sidewalk connects the Texas A&M Commerce college campus to many neighborhoods and multiple areas of commerce and business along a major thoroughfare in the City of Commerce.

The second portion of the project installed 2,100 LF of 4’ wide sidewalk along both sides of Maple Street to a point of convergence with Pecan Street where a 4’ wide sidewalk continued along the south side of Maple Street for approximately 250 LF to Park Street. The sidewalk then crosses Park Street to the east side of Park Street where the sidewalk continues approximately 215 LF south to the north edge of the existing parking lot for the City Park.
