The Central Bowie County Water Supply Corporation (CBCWSC) contacted Hayter Engineering to develop a solution to prevent their ground storage tank from overflowing due to electrical disruptions that repeatedly occurred to the existing fill valve.

Our Solution

Hayter Engineering designed a project that involved installing a hydraulically operated float valve on the downstream side of the existing solenoid fill valve. If the existing fill valve were to fail during filling operation, the new float valve will automatically shut flow off from the incoming line when the water begins to approach the overflow in the ground storage tank. The new float valve does not utilize electricity, but instead uses the pressure from the distribution system to operate the valve.
